The horse represents another way of understanding connection. I’d like to learn more about the part horse play in Sumbanese culture, and learning to ride will require patience, trust and communication. Exploring the island on horseback invites me to slow down and experience place differently, through a relationship with an animal and tapping into a deeper awareness of the environment around me.
